Ride to Clayton New Mexico with stops at the Tucumcari Historical Museum, Amistad “Little House” Museum and Herzstein Memorial Museum in Clayton. Took I 40 east to Tucmcari, then US 54 to Nara Visa, north on NM 402
Ride was 280 miles with a 5 hour ride time.

Soccoro – Magdalena – Alamo
Ride to Alamo New Mexico with a stop for lunch in Magdalena–Took NM 47 south, south on NM 304, east on US 60 (I-25) to Magdalena. Then north on NM 169 to Alamo. Back south on NM 169, west on US 60, then north on NM 116, north NM 314, then north on NM 47
The ride was about 280 miles with a 6 hour ride time.

Several weeks ago I got a “New Mexico Road and Recreation Atlas”, it provides special information on the roads, telling me if they are paved or unpaved. This knowledge of pavement is an important fact that Google maps does not share. Using this new tool, I found out NM 169 is paved from Magadalena to Alamo, giving me a new road to explore.
Las Cruces – White Sands – Alamogordo – Tularosa – Carrizozo – Willard – Moriarty – Albuquerque
Ride from Las Cruces to Albuquerque with a stop at White Sands and Carrizozo for lunch–Took US 70 west to Tularose, then US 54 north to Corona, then NM 42 to Moriarty and NM 333 into Albuquerque
The ride was 270 miles with a about 5 1/2 hours ride time.

This is the return ride to Albuquerque after an overnight in Las Cruces. The hotel (Mission Inn) we spent the night was across the street from the train tracks. Several times during the night freight trains rolled by, horns loudly announcing their passing.
